Benny Gold and Sean Desmond’s Tenderloin Project have joined forces yielding a limited edition t-shirt seen here. The black shirt features gold accents to symbolize the hope and dreams of the neighborhood. Here’s a little description of the concept of the collaboration.

“The Tenderloin Project is is look into San Francisco’s most overlooked neighborhood. Its a raw street-level look into a marginalized neighborhood. We are really happy to help introduce the project to our supporters to help grow awareness of the everyday struggles and hopes of the people that live in SF’s Tenderloin district.”

Rap lyrics are nothing new to graphic tee’s, it’s part of what makes street wear “street”. Crooks & Castles has always been a street wear brand that has kept close ties to hip-hop and this latest t-shirt features a line from my favorite rapper. “Hungry ass Hooligans stay on that Piranha shit.” is a line from Nas’ second album It Was Written which was my favorite Nas album (I don’t care what the critics think). Earlier this week, Black Scale took their show to the City of Brotherly Love as they teamed up with local entities in retailer UBIQ and rap artist Freeway. The event culminated in a collaborative t-shirt release with Freeway, the launch of Black Scale’s 2010 spring collection and of course a performance by Freeway.
