Nike Air Pippen 1 'Total Orange'

Following a re-release of a basic white/grey version of the Air Pippen 1 in May, Nike will follow with this more flamboyant white/Total Orange colorway in June. Full-grain leather and a full-length Max airbag makes this the luxury yacht of the Pippen line.

As a big, clunky full-length Air Max shoe, the original Nike Air Pippen didn't really contribute much to the Pippen line as a whole. As it turned out, Scottie preferred the lower, lighter Zoom Air, and even had his on-court versions of the Pippen 1 made up with Zoom. But if you look at the original shoe now and consider its place in the Nike Basketball hierarchy, it becomes more significant. Because, with that full-length Air bag and the plastic-reinforced sidepanels, isn't it just the evolutionary forefather of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII? Just asking. Look for this OG-esque colorway to drop in May of 2010.
